An overnight crash in Anderson County, South Carolina, has left one person dead and another hospitalized after a pickup truck reportedly left the roadway and struck an embankment.
The deadly collision happened in the Powdersville area on River Road near Old Anderson Road shortly before 2 a.m.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Dodge Ram pickup truck carrying two people was traveling north when it went off the right side of the roadway and crashed into an embankment.
One occupant was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the other was pronounced dead following the crash.
Deadly Anderson County Crash Under Investigation
South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene after the crash was reported.
Investigators have not yet determined what caused the pickup truck to leave the roadway. Authorities have also not released information about whether speed, weather, road conditions, impairment or another factor may have contributed.

One Person Hospitalized
The surviving occupant was transported to a nearby hospital following the crash.
