Michelle Richter of Regina, Saskatchewan, has died at the age of 51, leaving behind family, friends, former students, colleagues and members of the local arts community who knew her for her warmth, creativity and dedication to others.
Michelle died peacefully on September 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born in Regina on September 17, 1975, and remained deeply connected to the people and community she loved throughout her life.
Family Was at the Center of Her Life
Michelle was the first of four children born to Deborah and Larry Richter. She shared a close bond with her siblings and took great joy in being an aunt to her nieces and nephews.
Her greatest source of happiness was her children, Noah and Sophia. Michelle encouraged them to be themselves, work hard and approach life with creativity and a sense of adventure. She also cherished the family traditions and everyday moments they built together.
Her partner, Jon Bonar, shared many of her adventures, including trips to Vancouver Island, Hawaii, Chicago and Mexico City.
Remembered as an Educator and Artist
Michelle studied Arts Education at the University of Regina before beginning a teaching career with Regina Catholic Schools. She dedicated more than 20 years to education, creating classroom environments where students could feel comfortable, appreciated and free to develop their creativity.
