Four people were injured after gunfire broke out in Hawthorne early Thursday morning, sending multiple police agencies to the area and launching an investigation into who was responsible.
The shooting happened shortly after 2 a.m. on September 24 near Crenshaw Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue. All four victims were taken to hospitals or sought medical treatment, and their injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.
Police had not publicly identified a suspect or announced any arrests.
Shooting Reported After 2 a.m.
Hawthorne officers were called to the area after reports of gunshots and people screaming.
When police arrived in the 14100 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, three adults were found suffering from gunshot wounds. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel treated the victims before they were transported to hospitals.
A fourth person who had also been shot later went to a hospital independently.
Authorities have not released the names of any of the victims.
Investigators Search the Area
The shooting brought officers from several South Bay law-enforcement agencies to the scene, including police from Hawthorne, Gardena and Hermosa Beach.
Investigators recovered multiple shell casings while working to determine how the shooting unfolded.
Police also examined a vehicle in a nearby parking lot and had it towed as part of the investigation.
Despite the large response, authorities had not released a description of a suspect or confirmed how many people may have been involved.
